BEIJING - Olympic silver medallist Deborah Gravenstijn bounced back from a double family tragedy to take an emotional place on the women's 57kg judo podium at the Olympics on Monday.
"Just after Athens I lost my sister and last year I lost my mother," she revealed.
"This has made me strong and more aware of life. This medal is for my mother and sister and reminds me to live life. This medal is the most precious thing I've got."
Italian Giulia Quintavalle won gold for her first medal in international competition - her previous best result was a fifth placing at the European Championships.
